This learning rug area is important for student learning. It's where we start and end the day. It's a place where we meet to learn new things, to collaborate, show our math work, read together, share thoughts and ideas with each other. Having their own learning space on the rug is essential since students will finally have a sense of belonging. The learning rug will benefit ALL types of learners! Strategic placements on the rug, would help students problem solve, critically think and share out with all types of learners. When making connections to stories, students interact better when sharing with a familiar partner. We are able to use thinking stems (I'm thinking..., I'm noticing..., I'm feeling...) more easily due to close proximity with their peers and teacher.
