Our school district pushes the Three E's (enrollment, enlistment, and employment) for all graduating high school seniors. Traditionally, the seniors' final plans are celebrated with a small "signing ceremony" during the school day. However, there is nothing traditional about these students. I want to give them a celebration worthy of their hard work and achievements, no matter which pathway they have chosen to take. I am hosting a small carnival in addition to the ceremony, to celebrate the achievements each and every one of them has accomplished. The end of your senior year is always difficult with the stress of final exams and the sudden realization that your life is about to completely change. I have seen the stress and anxiety take its toll on my seniors as these final weeks are quickly approaching. This carnival will be a way for the students to celebrate each other, while also renewing the excitement for their futures. We will be using the materials to create fun, outdoor bonding games that can be reused for future school events such as Ring Toss, Kerplunk! and Twister. The materials will also go towards crafts that the students can create and take home as a memory of the event such as t-shirts, photos and paintings. The materials provided for this special day will help the students feel supported and confident as they turn the page to the next chapters of their lives.
