I attempt to meet with my students twice a day in a small group setting, so that our ratio goes from 21:1, to 6:1. This helps me better grasp where they are on our current reading and math skills and provide better more specific feedback to their learning needs. I bought the cutest stools for my classroom this year, only to watch them fall to pieces from my students' need to rock back and forth while absorbing new information. These old stools are now a bit of a safety issue in the classroom, as they stay upright but have become rather easy to topple. I keep them there because I want my students to have a seating option while learning new material, but have first hand seen the way the body and mind connect through movement. The tractor seat chrome stools have wheels, which would provide my students the ability to easily glide back and forth and give their bodies the movement they seek while straining and training their minds for learning new concepts.
