Ukulele performance provides an opportunity for students to reinforce skills in literacy, mathematics and science, in addition to it's musical role. Students learn the nature of soundwaves, the relationship between string length and frequency/pitch, and the history of the instrument as well as the culture surrounding it.
Your donation will enable a unique experience that supports academic, social, and developmental skills needed inside and outside of the classroom. Playing the ukulele encourages self-confidence as students perform solo, in a small group or in a large group setting. It develops the social skills students require to work with peers as they discuss, create and strive for class defined goals. Playing the ukulele exercises fine motor skills (finger control on the fret board) and coordination (strumming and using the fret board). It emphasizes responsibility as students care for instrument longevity. Finally, it fosters a communal effort in creativity and personal reflection such as monitoring personal/class progress and reprioritizing goals.
Thank you for being a part of this opportunity for our students!
