I teach two RSP classes in math. They are below grade level, but with the help of scientific calculators that work, we can access more of the grade level material. We are just beginning to work on projects that focus on the concepts of fractions to decimals to percents and proportionality. When they can use a single type of calculator that works well, they can get practice and develop a skill that will help them through high school as well. Our current budget does not have room to spend this amount on scientific calculators, as we have to spend most of it on materials for the IEPs.
