In the current classroom, we only have metal chairs, and this is causing my students to frequently fidget. They are standing up or pushing their chairs back to stay comfortable throughout the day. By allowing them to wiggle with flexible seating it allows their brains to be more alert. The other manipulatives will help them to see things more clearly as it will be hands-on. Number sense is an important part of Kindergarten to help them flourish as they move on in their school career, which is why we rely on 10-frames. Groups of 10 are seen everywhere, and by allowing the hands-on materials they gain more number sense. As a first year teacher, who came halfway through the year, I am still trying to gain more materials to allow my students to gain better access to the information presented. New flexible seating options and more manipulatives will help me to achieve this goal for myself and for my students.
