Incorporating movement into my students' learning has become a priority for me in my teaching. Studies have shown that students crave and need movement. Some studies have even shown that movement and exercise can change the brain. By incorporating exercise balls into my classroom, I will be providing students the opportunity to move in the classroom while they are learning. Movement has been shown through countless studies to reduce behavior and mental health issues, improve attention, and create more engaging, meaningful classes. These are all behaviors that I see from my students on a regular basis. By giving my students the option of using the exercise ball as a seat, I hope to help my students improve in these areas. There are so many students who have untapped potential because of the barriers their behavior's cause. If there are improvements in this area, students could then focus on their academic learning and we could see improvements in student success overall.
