These books are important because they empower students to make their own choice as to what they will read. Students will select their own book each semester to independently read. Reading will take place at home, making this project ideal for any learning situation we find ourselves in. Having a diverse selection of books within the classroom will give students the opportunity to choose books they can relate to and enjoy. Allowing students to choose their own books leads to greater engagement and cultivates a love for reading in students.
