Our school district this year has switched over to phonics-based small group instruction. This was done to help students fill the foundational reading gaps that they may have gotten during the COVID-19 pandemic. My goal as a teacher is to help students become better readers. I am doing this by teaching students how to use phonics strategies to decode words and ultimately become more accurate and fluent as they read texts. When learning is fun students make stronger connections in their brains. This project will help my students learn while having fun.
