Teaching math can be challenging. Students often have pre-conceived notions that they aren’t “good at math” or “can’t do it”. After presenting a new lesson, I like to invite students to my Drop In Table - Drop In when you need to, and Drop Out when you are confident in your skill. Recently, I’ve thought about having a round table to invite kids to. I think it’s more cozy and might promote more sharing of ideas as opposed to a long rectangular table. Often, I will be sharing various strategies with kids on how to solve a certain problem, and the people on the end of the table are unable to hear me. With a round table, I’m able to build those connections better by being closer to my kiddos.
