As a teacher I believe it is important to engage students in different ways. I do not think education is one size fits all. Some students learn better with their hands, some are visual learners, and others like to take notes. This project will allow me to reach all students and make science fun! I want to show our kids a new way to learn about electricity and get them curious about science and renewable energy. Hopefully, the next breakthrough will come from one of my students. Maybe the next little Benjamin Franklin or Mae Jemison is sitting in my classroom. We would love to have this project done before the end of the school year because our budget doesn't allow for funding. In our area we use a lot of renewable energy; I want to get my students interested in this field early. I feel that if we invest a little bit of money now we will see the rewards when our students grow and give back to the community.
