Schools in Pennsylvania are closed for the school year. My special needs students are now being taught through online learning. This online learning will continue through summer to limit regression. With students on the spectrum, online learning comes with a variety of needs, behaviors, and reinforcements to receive meaningful instruction. Therefore I need to make online learning as FUN, ENGAGING, and REINFORCING as possible. For example, the magnet blocks and marble maze can teach shapes and be used as STEM activities. My students love cause and effect activities, so I will use the above materials to teach a simple concept as well as have the cause and effect aspect to keep my students attention during an online lesson. The bubbles and nut and bolts sets are always an eye-catcher for my students. When my students complete work in the classroom I give them tangible reinforcements. Unfortunately, I am unable to do this through online learning. But, showing them the above items and being silly and interacting with some of their favorite things will reinforce my students to continue working. Unfortunately, I do not have access to these types of materials due to social distancing and cleaning policies at school and just not having the funds to get all these materials for my students. Please help my students get the most out of their online learning experience. Thank you!
