Our school does not carry any classroom sets of books in the library. I have wanted to share a historical fiction book with students since I began teaching at this school. This set of books will help inspire, provoke, and hopefully ignite a love of historical fiction in a subject that is too commonly minimized in the elementary setting. If we are fortunate enough to earn this set of books, they will be used to introduce students to actual history through the eyes of two children and their fictional story. I want students to read aloud to promote fluency, have discussions, share thoughts and feelings, and ultimately, take over the conversation through analysis, prediction, and order and sequence.
