Students in the Specialized Behavior Support program participate in social skills training and a behavior management plan to help address their struggles with demonstrating appropriate social skills and behaviors. Although these supports help the students' social skills and behavioral needs, they need options to have their sensory needs met. The students benefit from having multiple outlets that allow them to meet their sensory needs. Students will use weighted blankets to calm down and mini-trampolines to channel their negative energy into an appropriate manner. They will use bouncy bands to release energy while allowing them to focus on lessons and maintain attention to task. These opportunities to meet their sensory needs will allow the students to respond to people and situations appropriately. These behavioral changes will lead to academic success.
