These calculators will be a game changer for my math class since at this moment in time we don't have any calculators available besides the calculators located on the computer (these vary from computer program to program). Hands-on equipment is so much more beneficial for my students in everyday use and state testing. Students don't have access to the online calculator that resembles the one on standardized testing all the time, but with the hands-on ones they will have the everyday access of learning the buttons, learn how to properly input what is needed to end with a successful solution, and complete the process in a timely manner. With the new scientific calculators for Algebra I, my students will be able to quickly and efficiently compute correctly for certain Louisiana state standards. Consistency is key, so the students become comfortable and confident with each stroke of a button. While working on various standards throughout the school year, I will model and guide students on how to properly use the calculator. Throughout the year and especially during test preparation, students will become confident and on point with their time when solving calculator appropriate questions in groups, pairs, or on an individual basis. This will lead to success on the standardized test because the test is now 3/4 calculator usage and timed!
