In my classroom I have tables. Each student has a book bin and storage basket. They are located in the coat closet. If each student had a seat sack on the back of their chair it would allow them to keep supplies and items used throughout the day right at their finger tips. My plan would be for the students to place their pencil case, take home folder, and homework pad in their seat sack. I would also direct them to place books and items they will need to bring home that night for homework in there. My hope is that this plan will train them to just pack the items in their seat sack at the end of the day into their backpacks to bring home. Fourth grade in my school is a very big adjustment for the students. We are departmentalized and they have 3 teachers. The are switching classes for the first time. Due to this students lack organizational skills and often forget items in school needed to complete homework or study for an assessment. By practicing this skill I'm hoping students will not forget items. This will result in students being prepared for class with homework and for assessments. It will also teach them listening skills, to follow directions, and to be responsible.
