The flexible seating of the swivel chairs will allow students who may have trouble or need to pace, learn in a setting that is most conducive to their learning style. I plan to place these 4 chairs around a high table work station. The blue leather bean bags will allow the student who need a sensory break to "cool" down or "calm down as well a serve as a reading corner to help engage students in reading as a enrichment at the end of the lesson.
The light filters help to eliminate distraction and sensory overload. It was recently found that 1 in 6 student have a sensitivity to light and can see the flicker of the fluorescent lights while in the classroom. The calming effect of the filter has been stated in research to promote learning. The yoga pad, will function as a pad in their seats.
The flexible fidget cushion was recently stated as a factor of on task behavior in student with attention deficit disorder. As well as the yellow mat which is thought to help draw a focus on the teacher when giving instructions. All the products are specifically selected to be sensory sensitive and maximize learning in my classroom.
