Our school has one mobile tablet cart with 22 iPads that is shared among 36 classes. Trying to sign-up to use it is often a challenge as it gets booked quickly and for weeks on end. Our school's 3 computer labs get shared by 72 classes! This barely allows each class to be scheduled in for 40 minutes a week. By the time my 22 kindergartners have logged-in and begun school requirements, a lot of learning time has been lost. To complicate matters, despite our school's efforts to maintain a nice lab, a lot of precious learning time is often wasted trying to find a computer that has working headphones or is functioning properly. By having tablets in our class, my students could remain in the classroom and take turns during the week, while they are at centers, completing the school-required learning apps. We'd also benefit from other apps like SeeSaw which allows students to instantly share with their parents what they are learning in class Not to mention, our class's learning time would be maximized! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student learning time and student and parent interaction, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology! Lastly, I have been fortunate to receive a CD listening center for my class. However, we need books with CD's. Please help us complete our listening center so we can begin enjoying it!
