We will take physical activity breaks in the middle of class blocks that are 40 minutes or more. Research shows that students who get their heart rate to the target zone are able to concentrate better on their academics throughout the school day. We call this fitness time Tennis Club because we go into the gym to bounce tennis balls, play catch, and run laps. I will teach students their optimal heart rates and we will measure our heart rates (and graph them!). And we will record how exercise increases our concentration. Thanks for teaching lifelong fitness habits and helping students heal their mind and body connection.
