I am looking for a standing desk as an option for some of my students who are struggling with their traditional desks. Allowing my students to stand while working would allow them to get their extra energy out while being appropriate. Currently at their regular desks, students are up and down all day which has been a distraction to classmates. The stand up desk has a bar where students can fidget with a moveable bar by their feet which will be beneficial to release that extra energy. Studies show students are more focused when allowed to stand, so students with hyperactivity or attention issues can be more successful. That “afternoon slump” while sitting could improve as well. In addition, my students like to work in partners with their Chromebooks or iPads and a standing desk would better facilitate working with a partner as there would be no issue of moving chairs or grabbing clipboards. This desk would give my students the option of standing at various times during the day, making them more productive and putting them more in charge of their learning.
