My students have worked hard to participate in this year's talent show. Despite never taking dance lessons, almost all of my students took a leap of faith and tried something new - dancing in front of all their peers! Students will perform for the entire school (about 700 people) and parents. They will perform a total of three times. My students have learned to work together, persevere and they have gained confidence in this experience. Through working together, they have also grown in their knowledge of the English language and taken leaps of faith communicating in their new language in order to learn all they need for the performance. During the performance they will learn to be patient, be confident and rely on one another. Due to coming from low income families, students will likely never have another opportunity to perform in this way. They deserve to be unified in their dress as well as their performance. They will have given up countless recesses and three days a week after school for over a month by the performance date. Please help me make this a special and united experience for them that will grow their knowledge of the arts, performance and our classroom community!
