I teach in a predominately Hispanic school. My students come from many different backgrounds but the one thing many share is that their first language is Spanish. This year all 26 of my 1st grade students come from homes where English is not the primary language. All of the students receive intensive English Language support skills in school daily from classroom teachers, assistants and specialists. English is a very hard language to master. Everyday we come together on our large classroom rug to read books, play games and share stories. Just like all 1st graders, my students just want to learn and explore the world around them.!
