The Special Education Department has three teachers and one paraprofessional. We have on average 55 students at our school with special needs. We run a wide-range program; we have resource classes where we provide academic subject credits, academic support for students in the regular education classes and career exploration services.
We also co-teach in all the academic areas, math, science, language arts and social studies. The majority of our days are spent in other classrooms co-teaching and, at times, in our own classrooms. We are always on the go and our schedule varies according to student’s needs and their schedules.
My hope for this project is to provide my class with a new Surface Pro Laptop. This laptop is small and lightweight and can easily be carried into the classrooms I co-teach in. By having this lightweight computer accessible I will be able to service the kids in the classrooms I travel into. My students will be able to have up to date ease of accessing the information they need for their classes right in the classroom.
It’s exciting to think about our students having access to a new state of the art laptop while in the classroom. I assist in planning lessons and grading assignments with the general education teacher, having this laptop will allow me to have internet access at all times while traveling in and out of various classrooms.
