COVID-19 has had a major impact on the students I serve. The necessary school shutdowns, isolation, and mask-wearing have all hindered early speech and language development for many of my young students. I have included many toys and books for therapy that will help them overcome this gap and many of those I selected will be useful in the event that school shuts down again. Among these resources I've made a special effort to include books and toys that are more inclusive of a wide range of students in terms of racial heritage, ability, etc. and I hope that the materials I've selected help to make therapy and school in general a more welcoming, inclusive place for all. So many students are struggling with social and emotional wellness at this time and my hope is that helping students feel like they belong and are loved and important will help them have better therapeutic outcomes as well. I believe it will!
