Rolling carts promotes student ownership of musical creations. They allow students to arrange heavy bass xylophones and metallophones into groups of their choosing. Currently, these instruments are too heavy for students to move at all and limit their creativity during music exploration and song arrangement. The opportunity for choice in arranging instrumentation promotes student engagement and higher order thinking skills. Students utilize multiple learning styles as they consider which instruments should be played together based on the sound, look, and feel of each instrument. These rolling carts also provide greater safety and security for this instrumentation that is used by multiple grade levels.
