Wonder is a perfect book to read especially for my students. This book inspires empathy and understanding at an age when it can be most challenging, when a child is becoming a pre-teenager. Just like Auggie and his friends, my fifth graders learn beginning middle school is a big step and when you have others around you "think kind," it hopefully is a lot easier. Your donation will help each student receive a copy of Wonder to read, learn life lessons and increase their comprehension, as it is added to our learning library. My students will be able to enhance their literary skills in various areas of need while learning the valuable lessons the book Wonder has to offer. Learning to accept one another for who they are and not what they look like is an important value to live by and one I hope to inspire in my students while they dive into Auggie's world. Everyone knows what it feels like to not fit in, the hope is how to find friends who will fill in the spaces to make the open gaps comfortable.
