As a middle school counselor, it is imperative that students learn social-emotional skills. I believe that in order to assist them with this, I must take a realistic approach. Students today are very comfortable using technology, and I want to capitalize on that. I decided to teach social-emotional learning using iPads. I meet with numerous students daily so I need at least two iPads. When they come to see me, they would log in on an iPad using their student ID numbers, and complete information on a Google Doc to determine the purpose of their visit. This information will be confidential and provide statistical data outlining services that my students receive. Second, I would allow them to use these two awesome iPads when they come to visit me and don’t feel like talking or expressing their feelings. I also envision them coming to my office and using the iPads at their leisure when they want to be alone. To help them develop social-emotional skills, both iPads will be loaded with the following applications that were created to meet student needs: Language Applications, Flashcards, Professor Garfield (Bullying, Online Safety, Fact or Opinion), Feel Electric, Moody Monsters, Unstuck, Fluid Monkey, Zen Space, Emotional Applications, 120+ Mental Disorders, World Lens, See Touch Learn, and Model Me Kids.
