The 6th grade girls group was launched this school year. Initially the purpose of the group was to empower and encourage our 6th grade girls at Roll Hill. We wanted to create a space where young ladies could strengthen their identity, encourage each other and feel more confident as they graduate from Roll Hill and move onto their next journey in life, Jr High School. The ladies in the group asked for specific topics to be covered and the group was shaped around that. A few of the topics they were interested in learning and discussing were: Bullying, dating, social media, depression, gossip, and self care. As we continued to plan for the vision of the group, the girls added in community service and holding each other accountable for academic success. Each girl is expected to maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher. The girls have been working hard and have shown tremendous social- emotional growth in their interactions with each other. This trip would be an opportunity for them to have one last group bonding experience together. We chose Hocking Hills because it will be a completely new experience for every girl in the group. We are planning to leave May 23rd and return May 24th. There are 22 girls going on the trip and we plan to group them in cabins based on their prospective Jr. High Schools.
