Social Emotional Learning is crucial to incorporate into everyday education. The power of encouraging mindfulness, empathy, and care for student needs impacts all areas of student learning. Students will build relationships with other peers and teachers through conversations initiated with these texts. The books will inspire confidence to access learning, build self-awareness, and understand others. I am a strong believer in Read Alouds to build a love of reading and this subject matter speaks to the dreams I have for my students. The books will allow the classroom environment to be a safe place for challenging conversations. Mindful students grow to be innovative learners, caring friends, and active citizens. Through literacy, the books that you will help fund for this classroom will build a culture of positivity and self-awareness.
