Research suggests that all students benefit from and are more bought-in to the idea of personal growth when they self-monitor their success. Our high achieving students can see evidence of their growth in the form of high marks on tests and awards or certificates. Our special needs students often miss out on these wonderful moments of pride. For our students who may not often receive awards or see themselves as academically successful, it is important to remind them by showing them the growth that they are personally making. We all grow at different rates! It doesn't matter how you compare to the student sitting next to you, what matters most is how you compare to yesterday's version of you.
