My students are primarily rural 10th graders that attend a high school of roughly 1800 students. They usually come from lower income families where many of the items other children take for granted would be considered luxuries. Academically, many of my students are considered at-risk or receive special education services. Though they can and will work hard, they often use their lack of material possessions and skills (computers, printers, cameras, etc) as an excuse for not completing the lab report that should accompany their experiments.
