My class is a K-2 Special Education class with students who need extra support in reading skills. I will use the materials to help my students work independently to learn letter sounds and sight words. Studies show that being able to read sight words greatly increases students' chances of being fluent readers. I am also teaching my students to read phonetically, so the phonics kits ordered will increase their chances of learning to read by sounding out words. The kits will give my students the chance to work independently without needing to write, as many struggle with writing. The kits will be a way to increase their self worth due to being able to complete work successfully.
