These STEM kits present problems in fairy tales and engage young learners in solving these problems. They put children in the engineer's seat. The students work together to solve the problem using the information and materials provided in the kits. One of the kits includes designing a house that cannot be blown down by the Big Bad Wolf and even designing a chair for Goldilocks that will not break! These STEM challenges are beneficial to students because they encourage collaboration to solve situations that are real in today's world. Even as young as first grade, we should foster children's abilities to think outside of the box and use collaboration to help solve real world problems. These kits would help first graders see the possibilities of becoming a scientist or an engineer!
