My classroom is a pilot Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program in our school. TK is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, combining the best practices of preschool and traditional kindergarten. TK students have greater academic, social, and emotional needs due to a variety of reasons, including socio-economic status, developmental delays, and lack of experiences. Upon completing TK, children will go on to a traditional kindergarten class the following school year with hopes to shrink the gap and minimize their at-risk status.
