"Makey-Makey" devices allow students to explore the "T" in STEM by allowing them the opportunity to create their own controllers. The best part about Makey-Makey devices is that they can be used to create computer-based controllers by using everyday household objects. A major part of middle school science is learning to find solutions for problems by using everyday objects. Imagine a child with a disability unable to use the same devices their peers use because of limitations on their movement. By working with a Makey-Makey device, students can help find a solution that will benefit their peers. Students will not only learn the basics of computer design and technology integration but will also integrate social equality by learning how the Makey-Makey can help others.
