Decision Day is an annual event that celebrates our students who are taking the first step to attaining a post-secondary degree! Coming from a school district that has a large population of first-generation students, this event is a culmination of everything they have been doing all year like filing the FAFSA, completing college applications, and applying for scholarships. Not only does it celebrate the hard work of our seniors it also sets an expectation for younger students, which increases the college-going culture at the school. Seniors wear color-coordinated shirts based on the school they are attending and they also sign a mock letter of intent in front of a Decision Day banner, making it a special experience similar to what an athlete might feel when they commit to a school. These college essentials will ensure that our seniors have all the materials they need to earn their degree! Most of the time, our students' financial aid only applies to tuition and maybe housing, but they have trouble affording the supplies they need to earn their credential. We want them to have some of those issues already resolved so that they will be more likely to remain in college and finish their degree.
