The second grade team will use the yoga mats to teach basic yoga and mindfulness practices. Our mindfulness yoga project will allow all of our students to develop important skills to help them focus and channel their positive energy. They will rotate through a series of mindfulness stations, including yoga each week. Mindfulness and yoga are known to reduce violence. This will allow our children to develop appropriate coping skills for stress, trauma, anxiety, ADD, and other every day challenges. Yoga will allow them to use their energy in a meaningful way and process some of the challenges our diverse population are facing today.
