Technology has taken over the world but how far has its reach truly extended? Usage of computers and tablets have increased in the educational setting but which students are getting the most access to these upcoming technologies? My students have an acute disadvantage because of lack of accessibility which could in turn affect their college readiness and ability to thrive in this modern world. These thoughts are the reason I have started to look for resources on Donors Choose. I want my students to have experience with technology to be successful and to know how to use technology to improve themselves and their knowledge base. Students will use these computers to access educational online platforms, conduct research for fun classroom presentations about students' interests, and look up fun culturally relevant recipes to practice applied math. My students love to eat and discuss what they eat at home, so I know bringing that element in to the classroom through technology will be very exciting for them. It will also be a great way to mix social studies and English Language learning. I would also love to integrate the technology into the classroom during center and small group time. This would be a great way to keep students focused and engaged on material or research while enabling smaller group interventions for students that need more help with material. Students will also love playing online educational games and listening to music from around the world while learning how to navigate primary and secondary resources. These three computers will help students prepare for any task in the academic setting as well as the real modern world.
