Our classroom community is only missing one thing; a mobile teaching easel. My caring Kindergartners come together every day for morning meeting but are unable to reach our mounted white board without straining their necks or standing on their tip-toes. The mobile teaching easel is great for drawing and demonstrating concepts, and writing both for the teacher and the students because it is designed for the early childhood age group. The easel will allow them to participate appropriately in our group time activities as well as benefit our instructional activities such as writing workshops, sight word practice, and story telling. I would also get some great use out of the teaching easel with whole class instruction when teaching new concepts as well as in small group instruction to reteach or strengthen the new skills they have gained. The mobile function of the easel would allow me to transport it easily to quieter areas of the room when using it for small groups. My students already have great interest in our whole group meetings, and this project will help enrich our classroom community, instructional activities, and small group teaching.
