Having a listening center is essential to my students learning. This center will help my students develop their listening, reading, and communication skills. Students will be more engaged in reading and less distracted by their peers. Students will be able to stay focused and complete interactive activities that correspond with the reading task given. Beginning readers will have the opportunity to pay attention to the sounds of the words read, while being less intimidated by their peers because they are able to practice their reading in a private setting. My proficient readers will be able to listen, correct reading errors, and then discuss with their peers what they have read.
