This activity we use to learn the relationships between ratios, fractions and percents. This lesson requires trash cans(which we have) and something to throw in it In teams, students record data of shots taken to shots made and missed into the trash can. The data collected is than sorted into various ratios, fractions and percents. This multiple use of this simply hands-on, competitive demonstration gets all students excited and engaged and they learn while having fun. For the ear buds, we use a computer program called I-ready in class, but not all students have ear buds and they have to keep the volume down so low while they listen to the lesson. These students would benefit tremendously with these aids. Thanks for your consideration!
