I arrived in a very bare-boned classroom with not a lot of student-centered resources. During our math rotations, I encourage students to learn through fun! Our math rotations include; meet with the teacher (specialized small group instruction), at your seat work (working on our math books), technology time (learning with programs such as Zearn and Dreambox), and lastly hands-on (learning through games). My students engage the best through hands-on work and through fun but challenging math games. It is my goal to incorporate STEM activities into our math rotations. STEM activities are a great way for my students to work on their engineering, creativity, and growth mindset skills. My students also will be able to work towards becoming a 21st-century skilled student through STEM activities. This project is our first step into becoming a STEM focused 4th grade classroom.
