My students do not have access to graphing calculators. More than 75% of our students come from low-income homes, and cannot gather the funds to buy their own school supplies, let alone a graphing calculator. With a classroom set of graphing calculators, my students would be able to visualize their mathematical lessons, whether algebraically or graphically. They would be able to make connections with real life data and search for statistical patterns. They would further develop their skills with technology, making them more prepared for getting into the career field. It would also give them an additional resource to aid in succeeding on standardized tests, such as the SAT.
