Since I was young and first learned of the Holocaust from my middle school English teacher, I have had the heart and passion for including Holocaust literature in my novel studies. I first introduced my students to Marsha Skrypuch's "Making Bombs for Hitler" and their intellectual curiosity soared! I then bought the parallel story "A War Below" and they still can't get enough of the storyline. They want to know the rest of the trilogy. My students have not only gained a love of reading, but through teaching the Holocaust they have learned so much about the roots and ramifications of racism and hate, not to stand silent when they see injustice, what is abuse of power, and have developed a stronger sense of humanity and empathy. The discussions are endless. I want to finish out the year by reading her final book in this trilogy! The kids are hoping we are able to get this book. THANK YOU in advance.
