My students love math class! First grade provides them a chance to learn math skills in whole group instruction, independent work, and within math stations. Math stations provide opportunity to strategize, problem-solve, and work together in small groups, as students practice skills taught in class. These unifix cubes, ten-frame mats, and counters will allow students to show their learning in a variety of ways. Students will use counters and cubes to solve addition and subtraction equations. Ten-frame mats will be used to demonstrate number sense. All of these materials can be used during our math station practice or applied to whole group teaching.
