Most people don't realize there are more then just the 5 basic senses. The remaining 2 typically are so automated that most people don't even need to think about them throughout the day. This is not always the case with children who have sensory processing needs. I have learned in my 9 years teaching that this is something our kids need support with in order to succeed in their school career. My goal is to have a regular sensory diet available to all students on a daily basis. I would like to create a sensory walk through our classroom that students can use throughout the day to help regulate their bodies to better prepare them to learn in their classrooms.
