As an Occupational Therapist, I work with children who have special needs and learning differences. My job is to work with them on developing functional skills to help them become more adaptive and independent within the school setting. Children learn best through play, and these materials will provide exciting opportunities to work on basic skills through fun activities. Participating in play is a means of facilitating development and learning while having fun. New games and activities that promote functional and adaptive skills will be exciting and motivating for my students. I have a large caseload of students, and it can be challenging to come up with ideas that cater to all of their respective abilities and disabilities. Having a broad variety of games, toys, resources, and sensory materials such as these listed on this Donors Choose Project will enable me to better accommodate the diverse functional levels of my students.
