My students have been asking, practically begging me to read a novel as a whole class. However, this being my first year teaching I do not yet have a class set of any book. I would love to surprise my wonderful students with a book we can all enjoy reading and learning from together. The students have enjoyed reading chapter books independently and in pairs when lucky enough to find two of the same books. It would be such a valuable learning experience for them to read and find the joy in this book as a whole class. They would be work comfortably in small group having their own book and follow along with. These students need their own materials to maximize their learning.
