I would love to be able to provide my students with more flexible seating options! Stools and camping chairs will add to our growing list of flexible seating options in my classroom! Research proves that flexible seating serves many benefits to students and the classroom environment in which they spend so much time. I am a strong advocate for flexible seating, because I believe that students deserve a choice. From my experiences so far, students who are given choices are more likely to stay engaged longer and care more about what they are learning or doing. I also want my students to be comfortable! I don't want to sit on a hard plastic chair all day, so what makes us think our ten year-olds should? My teaching philosophy is all about teamwork, collaboration, and student-choice; what would be a better way to incorporate this into my classroom than to have awesome flexible seating options? I want to meet the needs of all students as best as I can, and I strongly believe having more flexible seating options will be a great way to have students' needs met!
