When students can move around, it is beneficial for their health and brains! "Movement increases heart rate and circulation, enhances spatial learning, provides a break, allows cognitive maturation, stimulates release of beneficial chemicals, counteracts excessive sitting, and affirms the value of implicit learning" (Jensen, 2011). Students are able to choose where they sit in the classroom that best suites their needs during writing, reading, mathematics, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics). Students are more focused and engaged in activities when they have the power to choose their own seating. Currently, they are sitting on the floor, under desks, or in the corner of the room. Let's give these kids some new options! Thanks for your time!
